Universal Horror Unleashed will open in Las Vegas in 2025.
Universal Destinations and Experiences on Thursday released more information about the year-round horror experience, which will anchor the 20-acre expansion of Area15, an art and entertainment district that includes immersive experience like Meow Wolf's Omega Mart.
Set inside a darkened warehouse, Universal Horror Unleashed will feature four haunted houses. Each house has a different theme: Universal Monsters, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scarecrow: the Reaping and Blumhouse's The Exorcist: Believer.
"These haunted houses aren't for the faint of heart -- they are intense and feature elevated moments where the horror surrounds guests in unimaginable ways," Universal said.
Each of the houses will be surrounded by areas that Universal described as "sinisterly themed and immersive" with live entertainment.
Universal Horror Unleashed will also have eateries and bars serving horror-themed offerings.
The overall experience will be updated continuously, according to Universal, including with seasonal events and, of course, merchandise.
Universal is known for its experience with horror-themed events: its specially ticketed Halloween Horror Nights in its theme parks are perennially popular with guests. And the Universal Pictures division is also the creative force behind iconic and classic monster franchises, from "Frankenstein" to "The Wolf Man."
The Vegas experience also is part of a larger expansion at Universal Studios, which is slated to open its Epic Universe theme park next year and a smaller park in Dallas geared towards families.
"Universal's rich history in the creation of the horror genre drove our desire to bring a year-round horror experience to the incredible entertainment offerings in Las Vegas," Universal Destinations and Experiences president Page Thompson said. "We're thrilled to have our award winning creative and entertainment teams working tirelessly to bring these terrors to life in 2025."
