There are hotels in major towns, but apart from the modern hotels in Ilulissat, Narsaq, Narsarsuaq, Nuuk, Qaqortoq, Kangerlussuaq, Tasiilaq and Sisimiut, most hotels are small and have limited facilities. Hotel bookings should be arranged prior to arrival. Keep in mind that breakfast is usually included with the room. Youth hostel-type accommodations can be found in almost every town and even in many small villages: Inquire at the local tourist office. Take a sleeping bag along if you plan to stay in hostels. Another alternative is the network of seamen's homes, once used only by seafarers, which provide very basic accommodations with a shared bath. Book well in advance for the summer.
