Cruise lines have altered their Caribbean and Bermuda cruise itineraries to avoid Hurricane Milton, and some may further update their plans as the storm nears.
Milton is expected to become a Category 5 hurricane and slam into the west coast of Florida on Wednesday night, ripping through the center of the state and exiting into the Atlantic on Thursday morning, heading toward Bermuda. Tampa's airport closed on Oct. 8 ahead of Milton's expected landfall.
Princess Cruises
The Sun Princess was scheduled to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 9 after a transatlantic crossing, but the new ship's U.S. arrival has been pushed back to Oct. 11. Due
to Hurricane Milton's approach to Florida, the U.S. Coast Guard has
restricted ship access to all ports in South Florida, including Fort Lauderdale,
Princess said in a statement. The ship will remain at sea, well away from the hurricane, said Princess.
Carnival Cruise Line
The Carnival Elation is currently sailing a five-day voyage that departed Jacksonville on Oct. 5. Given Milton's current track, the ship will not be able to return to Jacksonville on Thursday, Oct. 10. Consequently, the Elation's next cruise won't depart Jacksonville as planned.
The Carnival Paradise is sailing a four-day cruise that departed Tampa on Oct. 6., but won't return on Oct. 10 as planned. The Tampa cruise port is closed. The Paradise's next departure from Tampa, scheduled for Oct. 10, has been canceled.
The Carnival Sunrise departed Oct. 5 from Miami on a five-day voyage, and the return to Miami may be impacted by the hurricane. The Oct. 10 departure could be impacted.
The Carnival Pride's Oct. 6 roundtrip seven-day sailing to Bermuda out of Baltimore will arrive at Bermuda a day earlier than planned. The ship's Bermuda call will be from Oct. 8 to 10.
Carnival Glory is sailing a four-day voyage that departed Port Canaveral on Oct. 7. A visit to Bimini was canceled Oct. 8, due to unfavorable weather unrelated to Hurricane Milton. The ship will visit Nassau on Oct. 9. Given the storm's current track, the ship may not be able to return as scheduled to Port Canaveral on Oct. 11.
Carnival Sunshine is sailing a five-day voyage that departed Charleston on Oct. 7. The return to Charleston may be delayed as Carnival navigates a safe distance from the storm.
Carnival Valor is sailing a five-day voyage that departed New Orleans Oct. 5. The return may be delayed as Carnival navigates a safe distance from the storm.
Royal Caribbean International
The Grandeur of the Seas' five-day Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on Oct. 7 will instead sail to the Eastern Caribbean and call at Nassau on Oct. 10. The ship will skip Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.
The Independence of the Seas' Western Caribbean cruise out of Miami on Oct. 5 will call in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, on Oct. 8 instead of Cozumel.
The Harmony of the Seas' six-day Western Caribbean sailing out of Galveston on Oct. 6 will spend Oct. 8 at sea, skip its Oct. 9 call at Roatan on Oct. 9 and instead call that day at Costa Maya.
The Symphony of the Seas' Oct. 6 sailing from Cape Liberty in New Jersey will skip calls at Port Canaveral, Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, Bahamas. It will instead go to Puerto Plata on Oct. 9 and Labadee, Haiti, on Oct. 10.
The Wonder of the Seas' seven-day cruise on Oct. 6 cruise out of Port Canaveral will postpone its Oct. 9 call at Cozumel and instead call that day at Falmouth, Jamaica. The ship will skip Roatan on Oct. 10 and Costa Maya on Oct. 11, sailing to Cozumel on Oct. 11.
The Utopia of the Seas' four-day cruise out of Port Canaveral on Oct. 7 will swap its calls and visit Perfect Day at CocoCay on Oct. 8 and Nassau on Oct. 10.
The Icon of the Seas' Oct. 5 sailing from Miami will skip its call to Perfect Day at CocoCay and replace it with a day at sea. The ship will also extend its calls in St. Kitts and St. Thomas.
The Serenade of the Seas' Oct. 6 sailing from Tampa will now visit Costa Maya on Oct. 8 and Cozumel on Oct. 9, swapping days. The ship is due back in Tampa on Oct. 11.
The Mariner of the Seas' Oct. 5 sailing from Galveston will skip its call to Cozumel and replace it with a day at sea.
The Adventure of the Seas' Oct. 5 sailing from Port Canaveral will replace a call to Perfect Day at CocoCay with a call to Grand Turk.
Celebrity Cruises
The Celebrity Reflection's four-day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale will skip its Oct. 8 call to Key West and go to Nassau on that day instead.
MSC Cruises
The MSC Meraviglia replaced its call to Port Canaveral with a sea day on Oct. 8. The ship is proceeding to Nassau for its call on Oct. 9 as originally planned. After departing Nassau, the Meraviglia will not call at MSC private island Ocean Cay on Oct. 10 because of expected weather conditions and to avoid the path of Hurricane Milton. The ship will return to New York as scheduled on Sunday, Oct. 13.
The MSC Seascape replaced its call in Barbados on Oct. 8 with a sea day due to the port's closure. Given the path of Hurricane Milton and expected weather conditions, the ship has adjusted its itinerary to Roatan on Oct. 9, Cozumel on Oct. 10, sea day on Oct. 11 and return to PortMiami as planned on Oct. 12. The original itinerary included Cozumel on Oct. 9, sea day on Oct. 10 and Ocean Cay on Oct. 11.
MSC Magnifica will call in Puerto Plata on Oct. 9 instead of Ocean Cay and Nassau on Oct. 8 and 10, respectively. The ship will return to Miami on Oct. 11 as scheduled. Pre-booked excursions for Ocean Cay and Nassau will be reimbursed to guests to use for onboard credit or shore excursions in Puerto Plata. The Magnifica is currently scheduled to depart from PortMiami on Oct. 11 for a three-night sailing as planned.
MSC Seashore is now anticipated to return from its current sailing on Oct. 11, one day later than previously planned, due to Port Canaveral's closure on Oct. 10.
Norwegian Cruise Line
NCL said it has no ships sailing in the impacted area.
