Avelo Airlines will add four new routes from its primary Northeast base of New Haven, Conn.
The carrier will also add a third international route from Hartford, Conn.
From New Haven, the discount airline will fly twice weekly to Jacksonville, Fla.; Dallas-Fort Worth; Detroit; and Portland, Maine.
Jacksonville flights will begin Feb. 14, followed by Dallas on March 7, Detroit on April 4 and Portland on May 22.
Avelo will compete against new service from Breeze Airways in the New Haven-Jacksonville market, but is slated to be the lone carrier on the other three routes, Cirium flight-schedule data shows.
The four additions will give Avelo 31 destinations from New Haven.
Avelo will no longer be the lone carrier at Tweed New Haven Airport, located approximately 85 miles northeast of Manhattan. Breeze will begin flying from New Haven on Dec. 10 with service to Orlando, followed by three more routes this month and an additional six beginning in February.
Avelo's newly announced Hartford international service will be to Punta Cana, beginning Feb. 21. The route will join international flights from Hartford to Cancun and Montego Bay, Jamaica, which Avelo began last month.
Avelo will add North Carolina routes
Avelo also recently announced that it would begin seven routes from North Carolina. Those services will include twice-weekly flights to Montego Bay and Punta Cana from Raleigh-Durham beginning in February, as well as launches in April of three routes from Wilmington, N.C., and two from the secondary Charlotte airport, Charlotte-Concord.
Wilmington and Concord will become Avelo bases.
